Elitism - lessons not learned Part Two

This one is fairly short.
I can just imagine some wishy-washy gree-wellied luvvies drooling over the BBC programme Grand Tours of the Scottish Islands.
It portrayed what for some will be seen as an idyllic and natural lifestyle.
Well let’s look a bit closer. A very small number of families own Jura (seven estates), with holding being in the region of 20,000 acres. They make their money by letting people come and slaughter their deer.
The guy digging peat was patronised by the reporter and they had a good laugh at the fact that the peat will last a few thousand years yet. Yes, it will, for a very privileged few. This is a fossil fuel. If we each were able to help ourselves to coal we’d all be doing alright thank you very much.
Of course, if you are a rich landowner you can do what you like with your own peat.
Another look at an elitist lifestyle portrayed as natural and wonderful. I think the deer may take a different view.
